Creek and Horse

A winding road passes clustered buildings and descends toward the pale blue water of the Amalfi Coast. Terracotta roofs and softened hills hold the warmth of a place recalled from a distance.

I painted this scene from memory, letting the roads, buildings, and water shift gently into one another. Thin layers of egg tempera give the landscape its delicate color, subtle grain, and quiet atmosphere.
